Dr. Harrington grew
up in St. Louis Park and was the oldest of five
boys. He attended high school at both St. Thomas
Academy and Benilde St. Margaret's.. Dr. Harrington
then began his college career at the University of
Minnesota graduating with a Bachelor of Science in
Business at what is now the Carlson School of
Management. During his undergraduate program, he was
an active member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Working in the kitchen at Methodist Hospital and
teaming up on construction jobs with his brother
Phil helped pay his way through school. After
deciding on a career in dentistry, Dr. Harrington
was accepted into the University of Minnesota Dental
School and graduated among the top five of his
class. He went on to complete his orthodontic
training also at the University of Minnesota Dental
School.
Dr. Harrington spent his first years as an
orthodontist working with other doctors throughout
the cities gaining knowledge and expertise before he
devoted his time entirely to his own practice. He
has now been in practice for over 20 years.
Additionally, Dr. Harrington is a member of the
American Association of Orthodontists, a former
member of the American Dental Association,
Invisalign study club and an elected member of the
National Dental Honor Society. He also is on staff
at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis working in the
Cleft Palate Clinic in a volunteer capacity.
Dr. Harrington met his wife, Monica, in college, and
they were married in 1984. They have three children,
Blair, Trevor and Brooke. They are all active in
sports. Blair, the oldest, is attending Law School
at the University of Minnesota. Brooke and Trevor,
the twins, are seniors at Orono High School. Dr.
Harrington has yet to convince one of his children
to join him in his practice. However, he is
extremely proud of the wonderful people they have
become.
Dr. Harrington keeps busy with many hobbies. He
enjoys cooking and baking and many of his treats
turn up at the coffee bar in the office. He is an
avid skier, photographer and enjoys traveling with
family and friends. He enjoys spending time hiking
in Montana with his friends and family in order to
get away from the hustle and bustle of every day
life. Dr. Harrington also enjoys many home
remodeling projects. He spent many months building
an addition on his home in Orono and worked on a
considerable amount of work on the new office. In
the past few years he has expanded this hobby and
taken an interest in building furniture. He is
admittedly a perfectionist and that carries through
all of his work!
